MOC’s Really Long Life Span

When I’m playing the Sims, I love to have really long life spans. With MCCC, you can customize how many days each life span is to extend the length of short, normal, and long life spans. First, I will explain a little how to use MCCC to make these setting adjustments in game, then I will explain my calculations for you.

DISCLAIMER

I am not a mathematician and I’m not the best with math, so my calculations are not based on the same formula as EA or anything other than my own idea and preference.

Using MCCC to Set Custom Life Spans

After you have properly downloaded and installed MC Command Center, you will need to follow the steps below to customize the length of each life span.

Using Seasons to calculate a Really Long Life Span for each Life Stage

The purpose behind these calculations was to come up with a more realistic long life span for each life stage, but also based on the seasons. If you don’t have the Season EP, you can still use these calculations and adjust based on preference.

In total, these calculations come out to a total of 6,630 sim days or 75 sim-years for the entire life of a sim. Below are my calculations and some explanations.

Calculating based on Seasons

First we need to calculate the length of one sim year based on the length of seasons we are going to use. If you don’t have the Seasons EP, you can continue to the life stages.

Life Stages

For each life stage I used the approximate amount of real-life years that we would experience, and multiplied it by the total sim days for a year.

Newborn & Infant:

In real life, the newborn stage is generally the first six weeks of life. After that, babies begin learning many skills and start to grow and change rapidly, learning basic skills like movements, crawling, and sometimes walking.

To represent this time period I used the above numbers to determine that 6 sim-weeks is approximately 10 sim days. You can adjust this as you would like and best suits you. You could extend this to be 8 weeks long which would be

The infant stage generally lasts from the end of the newborn stage to around 18 months, just before we transition into the toddler stage. For this calculation I multiplied 84 sim days by 1.5 and that gives us 126 days to represent 18 months.

From here we are going to follow a simpler approach to calculating each life stage by multiplying the number of sim days to make a sim year by the number of real life years we want to represent in game.

Elder (MAXED):

Now we have reached the final life stage, which I decided should be set to the max number of days you can set in MCCC. That is a total of 4,000 sim days. The reason for this is that anything over 24 years cannot be used because of the max limit of sim days allowed. This is still perfect for elders, especially if you want to keep them around longer. The beauty of this is that there is always a chance that elders will die from other experiences than just old age or reaching the end of their life span.

Final Thoughts

To conclude, the total number of sim years this calculation gives is approximately 75 years. EA uses a formula based on a total of 85 years, but with MCCC you can adjust each life span length (short, normal, and long) to however many days you want each one to last, up to a max of 4,000 days. With these calculations I’ve used, each life stage represents a longer period of time closer to a more realistic length of age, opening more time for your sims to build skills, relationships, and experience all live mode has to offer!

I hope you enjoyed this blog and found it useful for creating really long but realistic life spans. If you’d like to see calculation for short or normal life spans, comment below.

Happy Simming! 💚✨
